LAHORE: As part of a grand operation, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) disconnected connections with two commercial plazas in Lahore city due to non-payment.
In a directive released by MD WASA Ghufran Ahmed, the officers shall conduct an indiscriminate drive against those who default on their commercial obligations. Galaxy Plaza and Latif Centre have been disconnected according to orders from MD WASA.
Approximately Rs31 lakh was pending in recovery against Galaxy Plaza and Rs9 lakh in recovery against Latif Centre, according to MD WASA. Field teams comprised of revenue officers and operations officers were instructed to disconnect the water and sewer connections of defaulters immediately.
All other defaulters of the agency will face similar actions, and they will not be able to restore their disconnected connections until full payment is received. As part of the order, MD WASA ordered all areas to be surveyed by the revenue and operations wing.
As part of their efforts to improve water supply and sanitation facilities, WASA authorities advise water consumers to clear their outstanding dues.
