The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Pakistan have agreed on a $600 million new comprehensive social protection development program that will aid the government’s attempts to implement the Ehsaas program in a planned, consistent, and calculated manner. Institutional capacity for social protection and climate adaptation will be improved as part of the program.
On Thursday, ADB Country Director Yong Ye met with Minister of Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan to discuss the upcoming ADB support to Pakistan. Women, particularly mothers, adolescents, and children from low-income families, will be given way to elementary and secondary education, health care services, and nutrition supplies. The bank has already convened the required management review meeting for the loan’s approval.
