CDA Chairman takes notice of the land swap news circulating on social media

Islamabad: The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Captain (r) Mohammad Usman Younis, has directed the Land and Planning Directorate to issue a letter proposing a land swap immediately on Saturday, following the land swap controversy circulating on social media.

Education institutions such as Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) play an important role in imparting knowledge to our future generations, according to the CDA chairman. It was imperative that all processes be completed by Saturday evening and that all commitments made to the QAU by the CDA board be fulfilled immediately, and no delay would be tolerated.

In an email to the chairman, the concerned officers promised an offer letter would be issued by 7 p.m. on Saturday. Additionally, the CDA chairman directed the Member Estate and Member Planning department to contact the QAU vice chancellor immediately to resolve any issues.

Despite being 1,709 acres, four kanals, and 13 marlas in size, QAU has not demarcated its land to date, according to the letter, due to a tormenting history with the CDA. This is despite suo motu orders from the Supreme Court, court judgments, survey reports, and directions from the Standing Committee on Education.

In addition, encroachments and settlements on QAU’s land were not cleared. Furthermore, the CDA chairman stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the sanctity of the educational institute.
