Islamabad: On August 2, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa engaged in discussions with diplomats from Ethiopia, Denmark, and Iraq to explore various developmental initiatives aimed at enhancing Islamabad’s infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
During a meeting with Ethiopian Ambassador Jemal Beker Abdula, Chairman Randhawa focused on ongoing projects designed to beautify Islamabad and transform it into a modern, green city. Ambassador Abdula expressed a keen interest in participating in the Margalla Hill plantation drive, drawing inspiration from Ethiopia’s successful Green Corridor Project in Addis Ababa. In response, Chairman Randhawa praised the concept and suggested that the Ethiopian Embassy be granted a special area for conducting tree-planting activities. This initiative aims to boost Islamabad’s greenery and reinforce the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
During a different conversation, Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Jakob Linulf expressed his appreciation for the CDA’s work in advancing eco-friendly and green projects. He conveyed interest in the Margalla Hills reforestation initiative and offered Denmark’s experience in solid waste management and renewable energy to aid in Islamabad’s growth. Ambassador Linulf highlighted Denmark’s achievements in sustainable practices and suggested ways to integrate these into Islamabad’s green projects. His proposal includes collaborating on renewable energy projects and improving solid waste management systems to enhance the city’s environmental footprint.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of integrating Denmark’s best practices in these areas to bolster Islamabad’s green transformation. He acknowledged the value of international cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals and expressed optimism about the potential outcomes of these collaborative efforts. The engagement with the Danish Ambassador underscores a broader commitment to adopting innovative solutions for Islamabad’s environmental challenges.
