Countrywide Strike Expected by Petroleum Dealers Association On Nov 25

Pakistan Petrol Pump Dealers Association (PPDA) has announced a countrywide strike on November 25, as they are “not interested in selling petrol “on low-profit margins”.

The Secretary of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) Noman Ali Butt said that the petrol pumps in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also be closed.

According to the spokesperson of PPDA, the government is giving incorrect consolation on a 6 percent margin while the nationwide strike is being called after the government rejected their demands. 

The PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan said that the petrol pump owners are in a difficult position due to low-profit margins and high cost of business. Further, said that the government guarantees a margin of only 2% on sales of fuel oil in the face of rising electricity tariffs.

The forum also agreed to constitute a committee under petroleum secretary Dr. Arshad Mahmood to make sure the implementation of the agreement through acceptance from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and the federal cabinet over the next 10 days.
