The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has taken a major leap towards modernization by introducing an online system for the submission and approval of residential building plans. This new initiative, announced on August 16, is a key component of LDA’s efforts to enhance citizen services and streamline urban development.
With this digital transformation, the LDA Citizen Facilitation Centre, commonly referred to as the One Window Cell, is now fully equipped to handle residential building plans via its online portal. In the initial rollout, the LDA E-Khidmat Centre has already received 12 plans from private housing schemes, with digital challans issued for each. The entire process, from submission to approval, will now be conducted online, eliminating the need for physical paperwork.
During a recent visit to the E-Khidmat Centre, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq expressed his strong approval of the newly implemented online system, praising its efficiency and the positive impact it is expected to have on urban planning and development in Lahore. He emphasized that this digital transformation is a significant milestone in the LDA’s ongoing mission to improve the quality and speed of services provided to the public.
Farooq underscored the authority’s unwavering commitment to drastically reducing the time required to approve residential building plans, thereby making the entire process more accessible and convenient for citizens.
He further noted that this move represents a decisive shift away from the traditional, cumbersome physical submission system, often involving lengthy delays and manual paperwork. Instead, the new online system is designed to be more streamlined, user-friendly, and efficient, ensuring citizens can navigate the approval process more easily and transparently.
Chief Town Planners Azhar Ali and Asad Uz Zaman provided a detailed briefing to the LDA DG on the progress and advantages of the new system. The move to an online platform represents a significant step forward in urban planning, making the process more accessible and user-friendly for Lahore’s residents. This digital initiative is expected to accelerate approvals, enhance transparency, and increase convenience for citizens, aligning with LDA’s mission to deliver high-quality services.
