PKR 1.48 Billion Approved for Key Projects in Murree

Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), led by Chairman P&D Board Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, has given the green light to several major development projects in the Murree region. According to an announcement made on August 29, funds have been approved for three key initiatives, including a cable car system in Kotli Sattian and two significant water supply projects in Murree.

The total funding allocated for these development efforts stands at PKR 1.48 billion. Among the approved projects is the Provision of a Stand-By Pumping Water Supply Scheme for Murree, which has received a substantial budget of PKR 717.387 million. This project aims to enhance the region’s water supply infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and consistent water source for the local population and visitors.

In addition, the Rehabilitation of the Donga Gali Water Supply Scheme has been earmarked with PKR 766.733 million. This project is crucial for restoring and upgrading the existing water supply infrastructure, addressing current deficiencies, and improving the overall water management system in the area. Both of these water supply projects are expected to bring long-term benefits to the residents of Murree, helping to meet the growing demands of the population and the tourism sector.

A notable highlight of the PDWP’s funding approval is the Feasibility Study for the Kotli Sattian Chairlift/Cable Car System, which has been allocated PKR 1 million. The study will assess the potential for a cable car system in Kotli Sattian, a scenic area known for its picturesque views and natural beauty. This project is anticipated to boost the region’s tourism appeal, offering an exciting new attraction for visitors. The cable car system could become a significant draw for tourists, further enhancing Murree’s status as a top travel destination in Pakistan.

The meeting, which led to these important approvals, was attended by several high-level officials, including Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masoud Anwar, and other members of the P&D Board. Representatives from relevant departments were also present, underscoring the collaborative effort to drive development in Murree.

These initiatives are expected to significantly improve both the infrastructure and tourism potential of the Murree region. By addressing critical water supply issues and exploring new tourism ventures like the cable car system, these projects aim to cater to the immediate needs of the population while also laying the groundwork for sustainable growth in the future.
