River Ravi Revival RUDA CEO Highlights Progress

Lahore: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), Imran Amin, emphasized ongoing efforts to revive the River Ravi during his visit to the river training site. The CEO’s visit, reported on August 23, underscored RUDA’s commitment to restoring the river and revitalizing the surrounding areas.

During the site visit, CEO Imran Amin was briefed on the progress of the river training project. The first phase of river training, which spans 3 kilometers, has been completed successfully. The project’s various packages—1, 1A, 2, and 2B—are advancing rapidly, reflecting the authority’s dedication to achieving its goals on time. This large-scale initiative aims to address the environmental degradation of River Ravi and breathe new life into the river through strategic interventions.

In addition to reviewing the progress, CEO Amin marked the inauguration of a new construction section that will connect the existing work to the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. This linkage is expected to enhance regional connectivity, benefiting both urban and rural populations. The extension of infrastructure projects like this will facilitate smoother travel and economic development across the region.

As part of his inspection, the RUDA CEO also visited the Mehmood Booti site, which has been transformed from a former landfill into a vibrant urban park. The park is now powered by a 5-megawatt solar system, showcasing RUDA’s commitment to sustainable development. This transformation is a key example of how RUDA plans to integrate green energy solutions into its urban development initiatives, ensuring that progress goes hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility.

In addition to the river training and park development, CEO Amin inspected the Chahar Bagh residential project. He urged officials to accelerate infrastructure development, particularly focusing on the feasibility study for a flyover that will connect the residential project to the Lahore Ring Road. The flyover is expected to significantly improve accessibility for future residents, making the Chahar Bagh project a more attractive option for housing in Lahore.

The Ravi River revitalization, coupled with the expansion of green spaces and infrastructure, forms a crucial part of RUDA’s vision for the city’s future. The authority’s multifaceted approach aims to create a more livable, sustainable, and connected urban environment. CEO Amin’s visit highlighted RUDA’s progress and reaffirmed its dedication to restoring River Ravi and enhancing Lahore’s urban landscape.
