Karachi: KDA has approved a Rs.9,204 billion budget for the next fiscal year, which will fund multiple infrastructure projects and housing schemes.
KDA’s governing body met earlier on Thursday at the Sindh Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
Local Government Secretary Najam Shah, Director General KDA Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Commissioner Karachi, Syed Noman Ali, Syed Shujaat Hussain, and other officers attended the meeting.
According to the Sindh government, it will fully support the KDA and help it pay additional pension and salary expenses.
As part of the current fiscal year’s expenditures, the Sindh Government has also announced increases in salaries by 15% and pensions by 5%.
There will also be funding for renovations to the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Park, new food streets, and recreation areas along the Clifton Beach.
The Public Housing Scheme has also been used for the elimination of encroachments, the purchase of heavy machinery, the rehabilitation of a pipe factory and an asphalt plant, and the reconstruction of flats in Surjani Town.
Additionally, the budget includes costs for maintaining roads in all KDA schemes and implementing a computerized financial accounting system.
In keeping with tradition, the Sindh government is committed to paying additional salaries and pensions to KDA, according to the local bodies minister.
