1956 World Water Speed Record Broken

 

On this day, the record for the fastest water speed was broken. Miss Windermere III, driven by 48-year-old solicitor Norman Buckley, set the record for the fastest boat on water during a one-hour run-up Lake Windermere. The boat averaged over 79mph during Buckley’s hour on the course.

 

Occupy Wall Street Protest In New York

 

An Occupy Wall Street protest began in 2011 in New York City and spread to many cities throughout the country. Citizens protested against the way the rich and poor live and are treated differently by others, as well as the way corporations use their money.
