Foodpanda, Pakistan’s premier food delivery service and comprehensive e-commerce network, has launched a pilot initiative to test meal delivery using a customized drone. The test flight of the Pandafly drone, which was conducted in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, took place in the F-9 Park Islamabad.
A Foodpanda rider carried a meal box weighing around 2.5 kg and loaded it into the drone’s storage bag from a restaurant at one end of the park. The package was then transported to another rider at the other end of the park, where it was received and presented to children from ‘Sweet Homes’ who had been invited to the event. Dignitaries, media professionals, celebrities, and social media influencers all attended the inaugural ceremony.
Foodpanda’s potential use of advanced technologies will result in faster deliveries over longer distances. “Foodpanda’s basic concept is to always innovate, test the limits, and harness technology to discover excellent solutions for fulfilling the increasing demands of the people,” said Nauman Sikandar Mirza, the company’s CEO.
