Walton Road Sewerage Revamped with ADA Nullah Diversion

Lahore: The Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab) has reached a pivotal milestone in the Walton Road Upgrade Project, achieving significant progress by successfully diverting the problematic ADA Nullah into a newly constructed channel and operationalizing a state-of-the-art disposal station, according to reports from August 6.

This crucial development marks a major advancement in addressing the longstanding sewerage challenges that have plagued Walton Road. The old ADA Nullah was a persistent source of sewerage issues, contributing to inadequate sanitation and deteriorating infrastructure in the area. With the completion of this project phase, CBD Punjab has laid the groundwork for a modernized sewerage system that is expected to benefit approximately 1 million residents in the surrounding neighborhoods.

The new sewerage infrastructure represents a substantial upgrade from the previous system, promising enhanced sanitation, better waste management, and improved living conditions for residents. The project’s success underscores CBD Punjab’s commitment to modernizing the urban infrastructure, particularly in areas that have historically faced neglect.

Key officials, including CBD Punjab’s CEO Imran Amin, COO Brigadier (R) Mansoor Janjua, senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain, Director of Project Management Asif Iqbal, and Director of Construction Asif Babar, along with members of the PML-N, representatives from the NLC Walton Cantonment Board, and experts from NESPAK, gathered to celebrate this significant achievement. During a site visit, CEO Imran Amin and Khawaja Saad Rafique assessed the project’s progress and discussed its long-term impact on the community.

Imran Amin highlighted the importance of overcoming the challenges posed by the ADA Nullah, stating, “Our unwavering dedication to public service has allowed us to resolve a critical issue and deliver a contemporary sewerage solution for Walton Road.” His sentiments were echoed by Khawaja Saad Rafique, who praised CBD Punjab for its relentless efforts, noting the positive effects the project would have on the local population.

Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain provided an in-depth overview of the new sewerage system, emphasizing its capacity to meet the area’s future needs. The Walton Road Upgrade Project, with an estimated budget of PKR 9 billion, is designed to alleviate traffic congestion, resolve persistent sewerage problems, and significantly enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses in the region.
