Islamabad: As stated on July 31, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board formally approved the Capital Hospital’s refurbishment and awarded 27 kanal of land for the building of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Science and Technology (SZABIT) University.
This decision is part of a broader initiative to enhance the infrastructure and healthcare services in the capital. The modernization of Capital Hospital is seen as a critical step towards improving the quality of medical care available to the residents of Islamabad. This upgrade will likely include the introduction of advanced medical equipment, expansion of existing facilities, and the improvement of patient care services. The goal is to transform the hospital into a state-of-the-art medical facility that meets international standards, ensuring better healthcare outcomes for the city’s population.
In addition to the hospital modernization, the CDA Board made several other key decisions during the meeting. One of the most significant was the formal approval of the allotment of 27 kanal of land in Sector H-8 for the establishment of SZABIT University. This new institution aims to contribute to the advancement of science and technology education in the region, fostering innovation and research that aligns with national priorities. The university’s construction is expected to boost educational opportunities and provide a much-needed platform for aspiring scientists and technologists.
Furthermore, the CDA Board approved the implementation of federal maternity and paternity rules within the authority, reflecting a commitment to improving employee welfare. These new rules are designed to support employees during crucial family periods, ensuring they have the necessary time and resources to care for their newborns. Additionally, the board sanctioned new medical insurance policies for CDA employees, further enhancing the benefits available to them and promoting a healthier workforce.
The meeting also focused on ongoing development projects within Islamabad. Chairman Noor-ul-Amin Randhawa highlighted the importance of timely and high-quality completion of these projects, particularly emphasizing the Park Road widening project. He directed the Engineering and Works Department to adhere to strict standards and avoid any lapses in quality, stressing that public convenience should remain a top priority.
A proposal for a partial inauguration of the Park Road project within the next two weeks was rejected by the chairman. Instead, he instructed that one or two lanes be opened for public use, with the full inauguration to occur only after the project’s complete completion.
