The Lahore Development Authority (LDA), under the leadership of Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq, has initiated a comprehensive city-wide operation to clear roads in Lahore of construction materials and debris. The operation, launched on August 20, aims to ensure that public roads remain accessible and free from obstructions caused by ongoing construction activities.
DG Farooq personally visited several key locations, including Ada Plot and Pine Avenue, to oversee the operation and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling construction materials. His on-site inspections underscored the importance of maintaining strict adherence to these SOPs.
He issued stern warnings to property owners and contractors, emphasizing that any violations would lead to serious consequences, such as the sealing of properties and legal action. In addition to targeting construction debris, the operation also focused on removing illegal encroachments and unauthorized sign boards that clutter public spaces.
By addressing these issues, the LDA aims to restore order to the city’s roads and ensure that they remain safe and accessible for all residents. During his inspections, DG Farooq imposed fines on violators and directed property owners to repair any damage their construction activities had caused to the surrounding infrastructure.
The operation is part of the LDA’s broader effort to improve urban management and uphold city regulations. The removal of construction materials, debris, and illegal encroachments is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing the cleanliness and safety of Lahore’s roads. DG Farooq’s direct involvement in the operation highlights the authority’s commitment to addressing these issues and maintaining strict control over urban development activities.
Furthermore, the LDA’s actions are intended to set a strong example for future compliance. By enforcing regulations and imposing penalties, the authority is sending a clear message that violations will not be tolerated. Property owners and developers are being held accountable for ensuring that their construction activities do not disrupt public spaces or compromise the safety of residents.
This city-wide operation reflects the LDA’s dedication to creating a well-organized urban environment in Lahore, one where regulations are enforced, and public spaces are respected.
