Sindh CM’s Ambitious Housing Project Reaches Milestone

Karachi, July 7 — In a significant development, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah shared the latest advancements in the ambitious project to construct 14 million homes for flood-affected individuals. The initiative focuses on rebuilding houses for a substantial portion of the rural population, aiming to uplift their lives and provide resilient shelter.

The project’s scope is staggering: it aims to benefit 15 million people, surpassing the populations of 154 countries worldwide. Here are the key highlights of the progress reported by the Chief Minister:

Validation of 2 Million Houses Completed:

  • Rigorous validation processes ensure that the constructed houses meet quality standards and are suitable for long-term habitation.

Bank Accounts for 805,000 Beneficiaries:

  • The initiative promotes financial inclusion by opening bank accounts for affected individuals, facilitating direct fund transfers and economic empowerment.

Funds Disbursed to 555,000 Affected Individuals:

  • Timely disbursement of funds ensures families can begin rebuilding their lives without unnecessary delays.

373,000 Houses at Post-Plinth Level:

  • These houses are well on their way to completion, with foundations laid and structures taking shape.

150,000 Houses Fully Constructed:

  • Families have moved into these completed homes, experiencing the security and dignity of having a place to call their own.

Murad Ali Shah revealed that PKR 112 billion has been secured for constructing 2.1 million houses, with an additional assurance of PKR 548 billion. This substantial investment underscores the government’s commitment to providing sustainable housing solutions.

During a presentation, documentaries highlighted the project’s real impact. Noor Khatoon’s journey—from receiving the first installment to completing a resilient house in Thatta district—captured the essence of hope and transformation. Additionally, the transparent Management Information System (MIS) ensures real-time beneficiary tracking, promoting accountability and efficiency.

Mr. Shah also addressed Karachi’s achievements, emphasizing completed projects such as Mehran Highway, stormwater drains, and various roads. He lamented critics’ denial of these accomplishments and highlighted ongoing initiatives, including Safe City, Malir Expressway, forensic labs, People’s Solar Program, and the Benazir Mazdoor Card.
