Israel and PLO sign the Oslo II Accords

The Interim Agreement on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, dubbed the Taba Agreement, took effect on this day in 1995. It divided Gaza and the West Bank into three areas and gave the Palestinians limited control over some of them. Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat signed the Accord by which Palestinian elections were also proposed.

Former Afghan President Was Murdered

Former President of Afghanistan, Muhammad Najibullah Ahmadzai, was commonly known as Najibullah and Dr Najib. On this day, he was tortured and hacked to death by the Taliban mujahideen. Alexander Fleming Discovers Penicillin

A fungus can have a positive antibacterial effect on many organisms and when found on his culture dishes while working at his laboratory at St Mary’s Hospital, London, Fleming discovered penicillin on this day. He provides the conceptual base for modern antibiotics by finding the fungus. One of the most important discoveries in the past century has been the discovery of penicillin.
