Lahore: A significant milestone has been achieved in the Walton Road Upgradation Project, as the Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab) commenced the asphalt layering phase on August 26. This phase marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to enhance Lahore’s infrastructure and improve the city’s connectivity.
The asphalt work began from Defence Morr and is advancing towards the Major Ishaq Shaheed Flyover. In the initial phase, approximately 900 tons of asphalt have already been laid. The project will continue to expand, eventually covering the stretch from Ferozepur Road to Defence Morr. Once completed, the road will be transformed into a modern six-lane carriageway, significantly easing traffic congestion and facilitating smoother travel across the city.
Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab, is closely overseeing the progress to ensure that all necessary resources, including machinery, are utilized effectively. He is committed to ensuring that the asphalt work is executed smoothly and meets the required quality standards. Riaz Hussain, Executive Director of Technical Affairs, has also confirmed that the project is on track and that both carriageways are expected to be fully operational by the end of October 2024. This timeline is in line with the directives set by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, demonstrating the government’s focus on timely project delivery.
