Islamabad Marriott Hotel bombing

During the night of 20 September 2008, an explosives-filled dump truck exploded in front of the Islamabad Marriott Hotel with 54 people dead and at least 266 injured, leaving a 60 feet (20 meters) wide and 20 feet (6 meters) deep crater outside. Islamabad Marriott Hotel is one of the beautiful properties in Islamabad and a preferred residence for politicians, diplomats, businessmen, and other influential people in Islamabad.

Rome Incorporated Into Italy

On this day in 1870, Italian troops captured Rome, resulting in the eventual incorporation of Rome into the Kingdom of Italy and the loss of papal powers except for those governing the Vatican and a small area around it.

Queen Elizabeth of England Signs a Treaty

A treaty between Queen Elizabeth of England and French Huguenot leader Louis de Bourbon is signed at Hampton Court on this day 20th September 1561. Providing aid to Bourbon against the Catholics of France would likely lead to the English occupying Le Havre.
