During the fifth wave in Punjab, the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in a day was recorded within the last 24 hours, with 843 individuals confirmed as coronavirus positive by the health dept. To prevent the pandemic from spreading, the provincial health agency asked inhabitants to closely observe the government’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
According to the coronavirus surveillance section of the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, the number of new cases confirmed in a single day was the highest in the previous six months. Punjab has already reported 450,787 coronavirus patients, 429,997 of whom have survived. According to the official, there are 7,780 active coronavirus cases in Punjabi hospitals.
Imran Sikandar Baloch, Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary, said Lahore had the highest rate of newly confirmed cases at 9.6%, while Rawalpindi had the lowest percentage at 4.9 percent. “Vaccination is our priority, and our Reach Every Door program in Punjab is doing best in this regard.” In the first phase of the campaign, 14 million individuals were vaccinated across Punjab’s 36 districts, and in the second phase, we’re aiming to reach as many people as possible,” he stated.
The provincial secretary urged parents to get their children above the age of 12 inoculated. He stated that no shortages of vaccination had been reported in any of the province’s districts. However, the department’s representative, Sayed Hamad Raza, showed confidence in the department’s ability to deal with the crisis.
