The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced the airport closure on Saturday through a public notification. There will be no flight service from December 5 until December 20, according to the notification.
In addition, there is the opportunity to use the airports in Lahore and Islamabad as an alternative. Two weekly flights will now operate between Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, according to Airblue, the country’s leading private airline.
Flights will depart every Monday and Thursday on this route; the inaugural flight leaves on November 21. An airport administration official in Sialkot said the runway needs to be repaired.
In addition, Airblue is utilizing an Airbus A320 to fly the recently announced bi-weekly flight, allowing passengers to bring up to 7 kg of hand luggage onboard.
