The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will be the first clean drinking water utility in the country by installing 700,000 smart water meters in the state’s metropolis. It was announced by Managing Director Wasa M Tanveer at a conference held here on Monday. DMD Engineering has informed MDWasa about the smart water meter project. MD Wasa said a meeting was held to check the progress of the smart water meter project. He said the water meter project would save water and bring investment to Pakistan. It will also reduce non-revenue water, save electricity and create employment opportunities in Pakistan.
MD Wasa stated that over 700,000 meters will be installed within the next two years and that the meter fee will be collected from customers after ten years. DMD Engineering M Manan, Director Admin M Irfan, Director Zeeshan Bilal, DirectoMeanwhile, Wasa M Tanveer, MD, paid a visit to the Kashmir Road underground water tank. DMD Engineering Rana Manan and Director Construction Sohail Cheema briefed MD Wasa on this occasion. The four walls of the Kashmir Road underground water tank have been completed, according to MD Wasa, who added that rainwater can be stored in this water tank during the monsoon season. Rainwater will not accumulate on the sides of Kashmir Road as a result of this project, he claims.
Wasa Training Centre and Quality Control Office were also paid a surprise visit by MD Wasa M Tanveer. Director Training, Deputy Director Training, Deputy Director Quality Control, and SDO Quality Control were also absent. Following the incident, Wasa’s MD expressed his displeasure and directed Wasa’s administration to issue show-cause notices to the absent officers.r Sohail Qadir, Director Sufyan Habib, and others attended the meeting.
