GWADAR: To turn Gwadar into a logistics hub, the government is preparing to execute an ambitious project for the automation, standardisation and harmonisation of all logistics related to land, air and sea routes in six months under the Pakistan Single Window (PSW).
In trade and transport, a single-window allows parties to lodge standardized documents and information through a single point of entry to satisfy all regulatory requirements, including import, export, and transit.
By working with the National Logistics Cell (NLC), the mega initiative aims to provide one-stop shopping for all logistics solutions to customers (importers and exporters).
Naseer Khan Kashani, Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), said that the initiative of NLC is the first of its kind by any logistics organization in Pakistan, and will promote improved movement of goods via road from Gwadar port.
It aligns the Gwadar Port, customs, banking channels, and other institutions with the web-based One Customs (WeBOC) system, thus increasing efficiency and reducing processing time in different departments.
In addition, Naseer Khan Kashani stated that the office would serve as a facilitation centre for exporters and importers using the deep-water port in the country. A vibrant system of logistics services is required for the timely movement of cargo since the number of ships docking at the Gwadar port is increasing.
NLC was responsible for identifying the missing link. Additionally to supplying its own resources, NLC will offer end-to-end logistics solutions, as well as connect shippers with other truckers.
An official of the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) said that multiple registrations, licenses, certificates, and other permits (“RLCOs”) are required to establish and run businesses in the city.
This mega initiative launched in Gwadar will be great for business because it eliminates the tedious paperwork otherwise required to comply with regulations.
