Illegal housing societies’ advertisements banned by PEMRA

Rawalpindi: Upon the request of RDA, PEMRA has banned advertisements for illegal and unapproved housing societies.

Hafiz Irfan, a spokesperson for the RDA, stated that satellite TV channels, radio stations, and distribution centers had been ordered not to advertise illegal housing societies located in the city.

The spokesperson revealed that there are approximately 134 illegal and unapproved housing projects and schemes within the district council’s boundaries. Civic authorities have been taking steps to prevent unauthorized housing projects.

The number of illegal housing societies has been growing rapidly, in part due to advertisements on TV and on social media platforms that promote them. This has led to complaints from citizens.
