Lahore Development Authority (LDA) razed several buildings in various city areas in an operation against illegal constructions on Tuesday. Officials said the operation was directed by LDA’s Chief Town Planner (CTP) Tahir Mayo, and the operation was led by LDA’s Director Town Planning Zone IV, Asad Zaman. An operation against illegal constructions was carried out in Johar Town, Defence Road, Pine Avenue, Khayaban Jinnah, and UMT Road during which 17 illegal buildings were demolished and sealed.
A team of LDA members from TP Zone IV demolished an illegal basement under construction on UMT Road and sealed an illegal residential structure located behind Taqwa Mosque. It was reported that illegal shops in plot 50A-1 of PIA Society were demolished, illegal constructions on plots 242, 243, and 244 of PIA Society were demolished, and two illegal state offices in Pine Avenue Scheme were sealed. On the road was also an illegal restaurant sealed off.
Officials say an illegal fence in Qadir Chowk has been demolished and temporary shops selling fruit, vegetables, and meat have been razed. They added that the office of a merchandising agent was sealed while the stores on PCSIR’s lot 46C were also sealed. A building under construction on Lot 22R of Johar Town was demolished while an illegal coffee shop in Johar Town and a residential building in Johar Town were also cordoned off. The LDA CTP said the administration will continue to work against illegal construction without any discrimination. He said construction of the building would not be allowed until the maps and other requirements were approved.
