Islamabad: Metro Bus ridership on the Orange Line is mostly handled by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Analyzing data regarding average ridership along the Orange Line Metro Bus route was conducted during a meeting at CDA headquarters. There have been 11,464 passengers on average per day on 15 buses, which comes out to 30 passengers per trip.
Moreover, by the average daily usage criterion, Faiz Ahmed Faiz junction for the Orange and Red lines is the busiest with 1,746 passengers per day, while Police Foundation-Mauve Area Stop is the least.
Also, the largest number of passengers on any given day was 16,000 on May 23. Observations have shown that ridership on this route is improving with time.
A large number of commuters are taking advantage of this facility and CDA management expressed satisfaction at this and hope that with the launch of the green line and blue line shortly, the number of ridership will increase.
In addition to reducing traffic congestion, the management hoped that it would also reduce air pollution in the city.
As part of the first phase of the project, buses for the orange and blue lines are expected to arrive in Islamabad from Karachi by the end of the week.
