Rawalpindi : On Thursday, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) destroyed 22 under-construction homes, four site offices, and nine billboards of four illegal housing schemes on Chak Beli Road Rawalpindi.
The Metro Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA launched the operation on the instructions of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa.
Four illegal housing schemes were operating in Rawalpindi in violation of approved layout plans. These were Turkish Smart City, Nishan-e-Mustufa, Ample Living, and Countryside Farms.
The MP&TE Directorate of the RDA has been taking strict measures against illegal housing schemes in accordance with instructions from the Director General of the RDA.
In accordance with Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010, the owners of the above-mentioned housing schemes constructed illegal buildings without approvals of maps/No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
Several notices have been sent to the owners of these four housing schemes, as well as an enforcement order prohibiting them from advertising their properties.
In a statement, the RDA spokesman stated that the Director General of the RDA, Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, has directed the MP&TE Directorate to not exercise any fear or favour against encroachments, illegal/unauthorized constructions, and commercial activity.
In addition, the general public should also take moral responsibility for removing all types of encroachments as much as possible in order to avoid further losses. RDA also asked citizens to consult them before investing in such projects.
