The Leh Expressway project requires extensive work

Rawalpindi: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been requested by the residents of Rawalpindi to resume work on the Leh Expressway project immediately. Rawalpindi’s people would suffer if the project were ignored due to political ego.

Zahid Bakhtawari (chairman of the Anjuman-e-Shahar-e-Yan, Rawalpindi) asked Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take action to complete this project. He also showed interest in the launching of the Islamabad Orange Metro Bus service.

The project from New Kataria to Ammar Chowk is 11 km long and cost Rs17 billion in 2007 when it was launched, but the public welfare project was delayed for 15 years, now costing Rs80 billion.

Nevertheless, it is a good thing that its length has been expanded from New Kataria to the High Court Building by 17 kilometers, he noted. It is imperative that the Prime Minister take action and inspect the project immediately, order the work to commence immediately, and monitor its completion personally.
